Google Shopper 1.4 Updated With New Scanning Options

Google Shopper is a mobile app for that lets you search for for the best deals from your phone, either by entering text or scanning a barcode or cover art with your phone’s camera. It comes in handy when you find something in a store that seems a bit overpriced and you want to check and see if you can find a cheaper price online or at a nearby store.
Shopper includes several tools you can use to identify products,..
search online for info on them, and learn where you can buy them for the lowest price, including listings for retailers both online and those with brick-and-mortar locations. The app can take your text query or accept voice input, but arguably its most useful features are camera-based, processing barcodes and performing object recognition on product designs in order to identify them. While Google Goggles may let you pull some of the same stunts, ultimately Goggles is about exploring your world, while Shopper is laser-focused on capitalism.
This new version of Shopper brings over Goggles features like QR code scanning, and the ability to recognize what products magazine ads are promoting. After all, Shopper can only help you find a deal if it can ID what product you're interested in, so tools like these are key to the app's success. Version 1.4 also brings with it unspecified bug fixes, and improvements to the filtering used to deliver relevant search results.
Google Shopper 1.4 is available in the Android Market now for smartphones running Eclair or better. Currently, the app only supports retailers in the US and the UK...Source: Android Market
