Samsung loses second German 3G patent lawsuit against Apple

Convinced that Apple is infringing seven of its patents, Samsung turned to the Mannheim Regional Court in Germany but the judge last week rejected the first "essential 3G/UMTS wireless telecommunication" patent claim against Cupertino.
Today the same judge in the same court rejected Samsung's second complaint related to the 3G/UMTS wireless telecommunications standard. There was no motivation behind the decision but according to Florian Mueller, it might be related to the validity of those patents and the decision for the other three (or any) 3G/UMTS patents involved could be a positive one.
However, it looks like today's case which was rejected was more promising than the one dismissed last week. Samsung can appeal the ruling at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court and the company will definitely do so if there is a thread to hold on to.
Both companies continue the legal fight in courtrooms around the world and the recent financial numbers made public by both Apple and Samsung show that there is plenty of cash to sustain the legal battle.
