If you are a user of devices with OS 5.0 and have been waiting to get your hands on Facebook chat for BlackBerry the update to the official app is now available. Note that if you don’t have a Beta Zone account you need to create one. The new v 2.0.0.19 is available for both 6.0 devices and 5.0. RIM said that it would be expanding access all the way down to devices running OS 4.6 before the app left beta, and it looks like it's making progress.

While RIM hasn't quite reached the compatibility goal it set , 5.0 support is a huge step in expanding access to the app. That may be the big appeal of this update, but even BBOS 6.0 users who could already access it will benefit from the bugfixes it brings; after all, this is a beta. Contacts should no longer take as long to load as they did with previous builds, and there are a couple fixes to problems with Facebook Chat, removing errant error messages and improving the reliability of the server connection.
